Schulze+Grassov for washington university
In 2014 I teamed up with the Danish urban design firm Schulze+Grassov to develop a new mobility plan for Washington University in response to increasing conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles on campus. In order to understand current behavior and problem areas, I conducted a GPS tracing survey with student and faculty volunteers over the course of two weeks to collect geospatial data on over 44,000 individual trips. I also led contextual inquiries with students, campus police, administrative staff and delivery services. The resulting knowledge provided a holistic portrait of mobility on campus, directing our attention to areas previously unconsidered, and informed our team's design proposals for new bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
